The Commission is a non-career employer. For staff members
in the Professional category who are internationally recruited initial
appointments are usually for a fixed-term of three years, of which the
first six months form a probationary period. A maximum of two extensions
of up to two years each is possible. All extensions are subject inter
alia to satisfactory service and to a continuing need for the function. Staff members in the General Service category are locally recruited. A few exceptions are made for a limited number of General Service positions with hard to find technical or scientific qualifications which require us to recruit internationally. Appointments in the case of local recruitment are initially made for a fixed term of six months. If this period is completed successfully and the staff member meets all the requirements of the post, a conversion may be granted to a fixed-term appointment normally of three years. Further appointments of two years each may be granted thereafter. Appointments of a shorter duration may also be considered when the needs of the Commission so require. More information about conditions of service for locally
recruited General Service staff can be found here. All vacant positions are advertised through Vacancy Announcements and made available on the Internet. All Vacancy Announcements contain a descriptions of the duties of the position, the required qualifications and indicate the deadline for applications. Interested candidates should refer in their applications to the individual Vacancy Announcements they are interested in. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. |
