How do RSS Feeds work?

News feeds, or RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. It is a simple way of getting all the latest headlines, news, and videos in one place, without having to visit each individual website.

You can use an RSS news reader to collect and monitor your favorite feeds in one centralized program or location. There are many different options, ranging from browser-based news readers (i.e. Bloglines, Newsgator, My Yahoo!), which allow the user to access the feeds from any computer, to downloadable applications (i.e. FeedDemon and Newz Crawler for Windows; Newsfire and NetNewsWire for Mac OS X), which store feeds on the main computer.
