Objectives:

This is an outreach activity aimed to provide the knowledge on the CTBTO on-site inspection (OSI) regime to experts from States Signatories of the South-East Asia, the Pacific and the Far East Geographical Region.

The course will focus on OSI operations according to the Treaty and include hands-on training on specific generic inspection related skills.

The course would also help creating a pool of trained experts for participation in advanced OSI training and exercise activities. 


Language:

The working language of the workshop will be English.

Participants Profile:

The Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS) encourages the States Signatories to nominate the candidates with the following profile:

  • personnel of national policy making organs involved in the work of the Preparatory Commission;
  • technical experts in technologies such as geology, seismology, geophysics, radionuclide and radiation monitoring, overflight and visual observation, and logistics;
  • nomination of female candicates is strongly encouraged.


Application procedure:

States Signatories wishing to nominate candidates are requested to inform the OSI Division of the PTS (see points of contact above) through their Permanent Missions to the Preparatory Commission for the CTBTO not later than 30 September 2008.

Candidates nominated by their State need to submit, through their Permanent Mission to the Preparatory Commission for the CTBTO, full and detailed cirriculum vitae (please use the template attached to the course announcement sent to Permanent Missions).

Financial Information:
 

The PTS will cover the cost of a round-trip economy airfare between the participant's home town and hosting country.

The PTS will also provide the selected candidates with accomodation and subsistence allowance for the duration of the course on the basis of a fixed per diem payment.
