The Provisional Technical Secretariat of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization in cooperation with the following institutes of the Republic of Korea.

  • KAVA (Korea Arms Verification Agency);
  • KIGAM (Korea Institute of Geo-Science and Mineral Resources);
  • KINAC  (Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonprliferation and Control); and
  • KINS (Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety)


Objectives:

  1. Application and assessment of procedures related to ground based visual observation and overflight and aspects of synergy on level of Inspection Team.
  2. Increase levels of sillful application of VIsual Oservation techniques by OSI VO sub-team.

Participants Profile:

Limited number of international trainees participating in the 2nd training cycle (with background in visual observation), visual observation experts who participated in the 1st Training Cycle and the IFE08, selected number of host country personnel famliar with OSI, and  experts from States Signatories involved in OSI technologies development.

Selection of participants was based on prior participation in OSI training or methodology development and in consultations with respective State Signatories.


Financial Information: 

Travel and accommodation costs of participants in this activity are covered b the PTS/CTBTO in accordance with its financial rules and regulations.  The host country is providing significant support in covering local costs and taking care of in-country practical arrangements.

Notes:  

This activity is both a part of the 2nd training cycle for surrogate inspectors and a part of the OSI effort in developing OSI technologies through active participation of trainees.  The results of the TTE will thus inform the next OSI activity related to visual observation (DE10).
