Objectives

To provide hands-on training andpractical lessons to Station Operators on the cooperation, maintenance and repair of the ORTEC gamma detector system manufactured by AMETEK.


Agenda

These courses shall cover the following topics:

(i) Normal  and abnormal symptoms;
(ii) Diagnosis of fault;
(iii) Detector re-evacuation;
(iv) Cooling system replacement;
(v) Performance tests;
(vi) Detector calibration using standard software;
(vii) Pre-amplifier replacement and adjustment;
(viii) HV-filter replacement;
(ix)  Leakage current measurement.



Participants Profile

Station Operators of IMS Radionuclide stations equipped with ORTEC detectors who are directly concerend with the operation, maintenance and repair of such equipment.

 

Application Procedures

Nominations together with the registration forms should be submitted only through established official channels (their Permanent Missions to the Preparatory Commission for the CTBTO or Ministries of Foreign Affairs) to the PTS point of contact above, not later than 29 July 2011.

However, pending the official nomination, the participants may fax the registration upon its approval by a director of the institution or firm, to allow timely travel and accommodation arrangements by the PTS.

Financial Information

In accordance with the Staff regulations and rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide a Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) and financial support to cover travel costs.

  • The DSA will be sufficient to cover accomodation and related expenses during the training program.
  • The PTS travel agent will reserve, issue and forward the electronic flight tickets to the particianpts for the most direct and economic route.
  • Participants may, under exceptional circumstances, be authorized to purchaes their flight ticket locally, but only if this proves to be most cost efficient for the PTS and authorization by the Commission was provided in advance.

The training will be conducted by AMETEK according to the equipment support contract 2005-0931.
