Objectives

  • To facilitate the debriefing process of OSI BUE I (launch phase) and BUEII/IV (pre-inspection and post-inspection);
  • To obtain additional feedback/comments from participants regarding the BUE I and BUE II/IV;
  • To discuss preparations for BUE III;
  • To make recommendations/
    improvements/suggestions on IFE 14 or BUE III;
  • To generate possible feedback that will contribute to the draft OSI Operational Manual elaboration process;
  • To identify significant issues and topics for further development of OSI capabilities.


Agenda

  • Issues particular to BUE I and the roles and activities of the different players at the opeartions support centre (OSC)/equipment storage and maintenance facility (ESMF);
  • Point of Entry/Exit activities, set-up and design of the base of operations (BOO), communications, inspection team reporting and inspected state party (ISP) interaction with the inspection team (IT) in BUE II/IV;
  • Inspection techniques, equipment and procedures for BUE III.


Participants Profile 
Workshop participants should ideally be OSI experts with direct involvement in BUEs I and II/IV


Application Procedures
Nominations together with registration forms should be submitted only through established official channels (their Permanent Missions to the CTBTO or Ministries of Foreign Affairs) to the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the Preparatory Commission for the CTBTO.

This should be done no later than 23 July 2012.

Financial Information
In accordance with the Staff Regulations and Rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide a Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) and financial support to cover the travel costs. The PTS will select from among the nominated experts based on the latter's experience and area of expertise and subject to the availability of funding. Confirmed participants will receive further detailed information in this respect.
