Objectives

To provide Station managers with the basic knowledge and technical understanding of the CTBTO procurement process, how to initiate a change in the station budget, and how to plan for operations and maintenance at Seismic IMS stations under PCA contracts.

Participants Profile

CTBT Science and Technology 2013 Conference
Experience and interest in Scientific studies related to the three themes of the conference.

Training
Individuals with managerial and planning responsibility at IMS stations with waveform technology with PCA contracts. Candidates must be proficient in English.

Priority will be given to candidates from the following IMS stations:
PS01, PS03, PS04, PS05, PS14, PS15, PS17, PS23, PS24, PS26, PS42, PS44, PS45, IS02, IS04, IS05, IS06, IS09, IS13, IS14, IS18, IS19, IS31, IS32, IS35, IS40, IS48, IS50, HA01, HA03, and HA06.

Priority is also given to those having registered for the CTBT Science and Technology Conference 2013, http://www.ctbto.org/specials/snt2013/


Application Procedures
Nominations together with the registration forms should be submitted only through established official channels (their Permanent Missions to the CTBTO or Ministries of Foreign Affairs) to the PTS Point of Contact above, no later than 8 March 2013.

However, pending the official nomination, the participant may fax the registration form upon its approval by a Director of the institution or firm, to allow timely travel and accommodation arrangement by the PTS.

Financial Information
In accordance with the Staff regulations and rules and Administrative directives, the PTS will provide a Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) and financial support to cover the travel costs.

  • The DSA will be sufficient to cover related expenses during the training programme;
  • The PTS travel agent will reserve, issue and send the flight tickets to the participants for the most direct and economic route;
  • Participants may, under exceptional circumstances, be authorized to purchase their ticket locally, but only if this proves to be most cost efficient for the PTS and has been authorized by the PTS in advance.


Other Pertinent Information

  • The training is open to individuals with managerial responsibilities at invited IMS stations.
  • Access to relevant e-learning modules will be provided to participants in advance.
  • Accommodation: The PTS will organize accommodation for the participants.
  • Insurance: all participants shall be covered under the Global Medical Insurance scheme for the PTS trainees under third party liability insurance.
