Second OSI Training Cycle for Surrogate Inspectors

The candidates are expected to participate in a series of training courses spaced out in the period starting in 2010 and ending in 2013.

Objectives:
At the end of the second training cycle the trainees will be proficient in applying knowledge and skills related to the CTBT on-site inspection (OSI) and will qualify for further selection process for participation in the OSI related exercise(s).
Language:
The working language of the training cycle will be English.

Participants Profile:
- Candidates should be experts in one of the OSI technologies according to paragraph 69 of Part II of the Protocol to the Treaty or any other expertise that may be needed during a field inspection such as health and safety, international relations, communication, administration and logistics. The selected trainees will, during the selection process, need to prove their qualifications. (Please see Section 3 of the attachment.)

Application Procedures:
Nominations together with the registration forms should be submitted only through established official channels (permanent missions to the Preparatory Commission for the CTBTO to the PTS focal point (please see contact details above) no later than 23 April 2010.

Financial Information:
In accordance with the Staff Regulations and Rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and financial support to cover travel costs.
- The DSA will be sufficient to cover accommodation and related expenses during the training programme.
- The PTS travel agent will reserve, issue and send the tickets to the participants for the most direct and economic route.
- Participants may, under exceptional circumstances, be authorized to purchase their tickets locally, but only if this proves to be most cost efficient for the PTS and has been authorized by the PTS in advance.
