Ambassador Alejandro Diaz y Perez Duarte, Permanent Representative of Mexico

Ambassador Alejandro Díaz y Pérez Duarte has been appointed Coordinator of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty entry-into-force process, along with Ambassador Hans Tage Harald Lundborg of Sweden.

Duarte has been Mexico’s Permanent Representative to the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) and Ambassador to Austria since 2007.

Prior to this he was the Ambassador of Mexico to Greece. Between 1988 and 1997, Duarte was a congressman in two legislative periods. In 1997, he acted as counselor in the External Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Duarte is a member of the National Action Party since 1964 and has had different functions in the party’s National Executive Committee. Before his political career, he worked in the private sector in several companies in Mexico.
