What will be the main development once the Treaty enters into force?

Once the Treaty enters into force, several things will occur. Most importantly, the verification regime will become fully operational and ready to be used for verification purposes as foreseen in the Treaty.

On an organizational level, the Preparatory Commission for the CTBTO, as it is currently known, will cease to exist and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization will be established in its place. Member States will have to be States Parties to the Treaty, the Provisional Technical Secretariat will be replaced by the Technical Secretariat, and the Executive Secretary will be replaced by a Director-General.
