What exactly is the global Verification Regime?

The global Verification Regime monitors the Earth for any sign of a nuclear explosion. Once completed, it will consist of 321 monitoring stations and 16 radionuclide laboratories worldwide. It includes an International Data Centre and, upon entry into force, on-site inspections in case of a suspected nuclear test. It is currently operated provisionally and will become fully operational once the CTBT enters into force.
