What technologies and how many of each type were finally selected?

Four technologies were finally selected: a total of 170 seismic stations, 80 radionuclide stations, as well as 16 laboratories; 60 infrasound stations and 11 hydroacoustic stations. All told, this adds up to 337 IMS facilities located in 89 countries around the world. This global network was finally agreed upon because it would “provide a significant level of deterrence, at a reasonable cost”, according to Peter Marshall (UK), one of the Treaty’s architects.
