How is the inspection area defined?

The Protocol of the Treaty defines the inspection area as a continuous area of no more than 1,000 km². With the help of IMS monitoring data and their analysis by the IDC, the location of this inspection area can be identified. The aim is to reduce the uncertainty in the location estimate to a level accepted under the Treaty (i.e. to an area of no more than 1,000 km²).
