The Symposium will feature speakers and participants from around the world, including scientists, academics, diplomats, youth, and members of civil society.

As one of the world’s most remarkable examples of science diplomacy in action, the CTBTO adds value to the discourse and practice of international scientific cooperation through its biennial series of Science Diplomacy Symposiums. The 2016 and 2018 editions have successfully laid the ground for the third and most ambitious yet: an event that will focus on how to increase access to and use of scientific advice in policymaking; how to encourage capacity development for science; and how to further foster collaboration and cooperation between scientists and policymakers. Panel discussions and practical sessions, including a visit to the CTBTO Technology Support and Training (TeST) Centre in Seibersdorf, Austria, will encourage interaction and the compilation of lessons for the future of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and its verification regime.
