To obtain feedback from experts of National Data Centres (NDCs), as customers of the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS), on the results of the small scale focused tests and on the set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics which would best represent and measure the performance of the verification system.
The working language of the workshop will be English.

The workshop is open for NDC technical staff.
States Signatories wishing to nominate experts are requested to inform the Evaluation Section of the Provisional Technical Secretariat through their Permanent Missions before 31 March 2008.
Candidates selected will be contacted by the PTS and informed about the procedures to be followed with regard to administrative and financial matters.
Deadline for Application:
Nominations should be submitted to the PTS not later than 31 March 2008.
Participants are requested to send the completed registration form to the point of contact not later than 7 April 2008.
No registration fee will be charged.
The PTS will bear the costs of the workshop.
Travel costs, daily subsistence allowance, health insurance, etc., are to be borne by the participants.
Subject to the availability of funds and the submission of a poster or a brief PowerPoint presentation, the PTS will explore the possibility of providing limited financial assistance to some of the experts coming from countries with low or lower middle income in accordance with the World Development Indicators database of the World Bank.
Participants requesting financial assistance should register and submit a file of their poster or PowerPoint presentation relevant to the objectives of the workshop before 31 March 2008.
(1) Discussion on the status and continued relevance of recommendations of prior workshops: consideration of CTBT/PTS/INF.867/Rev.1;
(2) Discussions on the results of the NDC preparedness exercise, the small scale focused exercises conducted in 2007 by the PTS and plans for 2007-2009: consideration of reports by NDCs and the PTS; and
(3) Consideration of a preliminary revised draft PTS process metrics manual.
Posters and Presentations
Participants should indicate in the registration form whether they intend to submit a poster or a brief PowerPoint presentation relevant to the objectives of the workshop.
Participants are encouraged to present posters on NDC activities related to the topics of the workshop.
Abstracts for poster presentations should be sent electronically to the workshop organizing committee, Ms Olfa Seyah, email address email@example.com.
Posters will be briefly introduced by authors in a plenary session. Further discussion on posters can be held during breaks.
Posters measurement: maximum width -1.5 metres; length - no limitation.
Presentations on the workshop related issues should be submitted electronically by mid April 2008 to the workshop organizing committee, Ms Olfa Seyah, email address firstname.lastname@example.org, and on a CD-ROMs during the workshop.
The duration of a presentation should not exceed 15 minutes.
Other pertinent information:
(1) Open only to States Signatories.
(2) Field visit to the Conrad Observatory (Lower Austria) for the participants of the 2008 NDC Evaluation Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 May 2008.
A special rate including breakfast has been granted at the Grand Hotel Sauerhof.
Participants must make their own payment arrangements and hotel reservations by sending the completed hotel reservation form to the hotel before 18 April 2008.
Participants should apply for visas, if needed, at the corresponding consular office at least thirty days before 5 May 2008 (workshop opening date) in order to ensure timely processing. The PTS will provide personal invitations to visa applicants.
(5) Health and Accident Insurance
Prior to their departure to Baden, Austria, participants should acquire a health and accident insurance for the duration of the workshop.
