2012 NDC Evaluation Workshop in Asunción, Paraguay
The 2012 NDC Evaluation Workshop is hosted by the Government of Paraguay and is being organized in cooperation with the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS) of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization

The objectives of the workshop are to provide a forum for NDC experts to share experience in fulfilling the verification responsibilities and to provide NDC feedback to the PTS on all aspects of the data, products, services and support NDCs in their work.

NDC Preparedness Exercise (NPE12) will be a key topic and the results of the NPE12 will be presented at the workshop. In-deep analysis of the NPE12 event based on all CTBT technologies and national data is expected to be discussed. The scenario of the next NPE will also be drafted at this workshop.
The workshop will also focus on the ability of National Data Centres (NDCs) to carry out their verificaton activities, including their approaches accesing to IMS data and IDC products and SHI and RN data sharing within NDCs.
- The results of the 2012 NDC Preparedeness Excercise and plans for the subsequent exercises;
- PTS data, products, services and support, and their importance to the NDC mission;
- NDC Forum (including cooperation and interaction in research and development among the NDCs; data access and sharing information by NDCs and NDCs feedback).
The workshop is open only to the CTBT States Signatories and is intended for persons involved in NDC related activities.
Application Procedures and Deadlines
States Signatories wishing to nominate experts are requested to inform the Evaluation Section of the Provisional Technical Secretariat (see Point of Contact) through their respective Permanent Mission at the latest by 20 August 2012.
Applicants are requested to complete the registration form and forward it to the Point of Contact latest by 27 August 2012.

No registration fee will be charged. Travel costs, accommodation, daily subsistence alowance, health insurance, etc. are to be borne by the participants.
Subject to the availability of funds, the PTS will explore the possibility of providing limited financial assistance to some of the experts. Preference will be given to participants coming from countries with low or lower middle income, in accordance with the World Development Indicators Database of the World Bank.
Participants requesting financial assistance have to submit an abstract of their suggested presentation relevant to a topic of the workshop together with their registration form. Applications for PTS support are required to arrive at the PTS as soon as possible, at the latest by 20 August 2012.
The PTS will make the appropriate arrangements for the air tickets and hotel reservations for subsidized participants at their request.
Other Pertinent information
For the accommodation of workshop participants, a special rate including breakfast has been granted at the Bourbon Conmebol Convention Hotel: superior single room USD125, superior double room USD 150 (10%VAT and USD 0.75 tourist tax/day not included).
Participants should make their own hotel reservations, including the arrangements for payment, by 1 September 2012 at the latest.
