Ambassador Hans Tage Harald Lundborg, Permanent Representative of Sweden
Ambassador Hans Tage Harald Lundborg has been appointed Coordinator of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty entry-into-force process, along with Ambassador Alejandro Díaz y Pérez Duarte of Mexico.
Lundborg has been Sweden’s Permanent Representative to the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) since 2005 and Ambassador to Austria until July 2011. In 2008 he was the CTBTO’s Chairman.
Prior to this he was the Deputy Director General in the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2005, heading the Department for Global Security from 2001 to 2005 and the Department for Global Cooperation from 1999 to 2001. Before serving for three years as a Minister in the Swedish Delegation to the United Nations, Lundborg held several posts in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and in the Ministry for Health and Social Affairs.
Lundborg has represented Sweden on a number of United Nations bodies. He was the Chairman of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs from 2006 to 2007. In 1997 he was the President of the Executive Board for the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA). From 1991 to 1996 he represented Sweden to UNDP, UNFPA, the Economic and Social Council and the UN General Assembly.
