Ambassador Rachmat Budiman
of Indonesia

Ambassador Rachmat Budiman became Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, where he also serves as Indonesian Representative to Austria and Slovenia, in October 2012.

Prior to this, he held a number of positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, including Secretary of the Directorate General of Information and Director for Treaties on Political, Security and Territorial Affairs and Public Diplomacy.
In 2007, Budiman was the Political Coordinator in the Security Council Team of the Indonesian Permanent Mission to the UN in New York. Previously, he also worked as Head of the Press Division in the Social and Cultural Affairs section of the Indonesian Embassy in Vienna.

In addition, he has carried out numerous special assignments. These included acting as Indonesia’s chief negotiator for the follow-up of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Charter, head of the Indonesian Delegation on the establishment of the ASEAN Commission on Human Rights, and chief negotiator for territorial border issues.
