OBJECTIVES  

  • To strengthen knowledge of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and the work of the Preparatory Commission.
  • To further build up the capacity of the CTBT States Signatories to participate in the implementation of the verification regime and assess how participants are making use of IMS data and IDC products.
  • To encourage National Data Centres within the region to undertake a joint exercise in the analysis of waveform and radionuclide data and to compare their results.
  • To promote the exchange of experience and expertise among the NDCs.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE
The workshop aims to ensure broad regional representation from National Data Centres (NDCs) in the East Asia region and, where applicable, more widely from the SEAPFE region.  

Applicants should be involved in the use of IMS data and IDC products, in particular, NDC researchers and analysts, as well as other professionals working with waveform and radionuclide technologies or related fields.

For example, suitable applicants may include:   

  • NDC technical staff and authorized users (Principal Users or Regular Users), as well as experts affiliated with NDCs
  • Individuals with experience in waveform and radionuclide data analysis and/or similar experience relevant to nuclear test-ban verification

Preference would be given to applicants from the following countries: Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Russian Federation, Singapore, Thailand, United States of America, and Viet Nam.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applicants are requested to register online at the Commission’s CTNW platform: https://ctnw.ctbto.org.

Financial support may be available to a limited number of participants. Such assistance must be requested at the time of registration (by selecting the relevant box during online registration) and no later than the registration deadline of 8 June 2025

Submitted applications will be reviewed and the successful applicants will be notified.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION
In accordance with the Staff regulations and rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide selected funded participants the following: 

  • A round-trip ticket to Hanoi on the most direct and economic route.
  • Funded participants are not allowed to purchase their own tickets unless, under exceptional circumstances, they are authorized to do so in advance, and only if this proves to be the most cost-effective option for the PTS.
  • The PTS will book a hotel and cover the costs for the accommodation. Training participants will receive relevant portion of the Daily Subsistence Allowance (per-diem) via bank transfer upon arrival to the first day of the training.
  • Health and accident insurance will be provided for the duration of the training, including travel days.

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION 

Visas 
All participants should apply for visas, if needed, at the corresponding consular office upon receipt of an acceptance letter from the Secretariat, in order to ensure timely processing.
