WORKSHOP FOR RADIONUCLIDE LABORATORIES

OBJECTIVES
The primary objectives for the workshop are to:

  • Discuss and address developments and issues pertaining to laboratory operations;
  • Review and plan Proficiency Test Exercises (PTEs) for particulate (P) and noble gas (NG) samples;
  • Discuss certification and surveillance assessments;
  • Share operational experiences and lessons learned towards quality improvement;
  • Discuss advances in gamma spectrometry and noble gas measurements.

PARTICIPANTS PROFILE

Applications for participation are accepted from:  

  • Staff of the IMS radionuclide laboratories and non-IMS noble gas capable laboratories.
  • Representatives of venders having direct relationship with the IMS laboratory activities.

There will be no poster sessions. While not mandatory, participants who wish to present are invited to submit an abstract for an oral presentation related to the workshop topics by 17 September 2025.
 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applicants are invited to complete their registration and submit abstract details via the CTBTO registration platform at ctnw.ctbto.org prior to, but no later than, the deadline of 17 September 2025.

States Signatories wishing to nominate experts are kindly requested to inform the Provisional Technical Secretariat (see Point of Contact) through their respective Permanent Missions by the same deadline.

Financial support may be available for a limited selection of participants. Requests for such assistance must be made at the time of registration by selecting the relevant option in the online form.

All applications will be reviewed, and successful applicants will be notified in due course.


FINANCIAL INFORMATION 
Applicable to PTS-funded participants only

In accordance with the Staff regulations and rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide the following:

  • The PTS travel agent will reserve, issue and forward the flight ticket to the participants for the most direct and economic route;
  • Funded participants are not allowed to purchase their own tickets unless, under exceptional circumstances, when authorized to do so and only if this proves to be the most cost efficient for the PTS;
  • The PTS will book a hotel and cover the costs of accommodation;
  • Upon arrival a Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) sufficient to cover the related expenses during the workshop; and
  • Health insurance for the duration of the workshop.

Requirement: Scanned passport copies.
 

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION

Oral Presentations
Presenters are kindly requested to ensure that their PowerPoint presentations do not exceed 20 minutes, including time allocated for discussion and questions.

Visa Requirements
Participants requiring a visa are advised to apply at the relevant Embassy/Consular office upon receipt of the official Note Verbale of acceptance from the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS), in order to allow sufficient time for processing.

Health and Accident Insurance
All participants are strongly encouraged to obtain health and accident insurance coverage for the full duration of the workshop, prior to travel.  Participants funded by the PTS will be covered under the Global Medical Insurance scheme, including third-party liability insurance.
