OBJECTIVES
The primary objectives for the workshop are to:
- To strengthen the knowledge of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and the work of the Preparatory Commission;
- To further build-up the capacity of the CTBT States Signatories to participate in the implementation of the verification regime and assess how participants are making use of IMS data and IDC products;
- To encourage National Data Centres within the region to undertake a joint exercise for the analysis of waveform and radionuclide data and compare their results;
- To promote the exchange of experience and expertise among the NDCs.

PARTICIPANTS PROFILE
The workshop aims to ensure broad regional representation from Spanish speaking National Data Centres (NDCs) in the Latin American region.
Applicants should be involved in the use of IMS data and IDC products, in particular NDC researchers and analysts, as well as other professionals working with waveform and radionuclide technologies or related fields.
- Spanish speaking NDC technical staff / authorized users (preferably Principal User or Regular User);
- Individuals with experience in SHI waveform and radionuclide data analysis and/or similar experience relevant to nuclear test-ban verification;
- Kindly refer to the document attached to the event announcement, which is also available at https://www.ctbto.org/news-and-events/capacity-building-and-training, containing a simulation exercise and provides further details on the participant profile and background.
Countries are encouraged to nominate both a SHI and RN officer.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The deadline for application is 17 October 2025
Applicants are requested o register online via the CTBTO registration platform at ctnw.ctbto.org prior to, but no later than, the deadline of 17 October 2025.
States Signatories wishing to nominate experts are requested to inform the Provisional Technical Secretariat (see Point of Contact) through their respective Permanent Mission by the deadline.
Financial support may be available for a limited number of participants. Such assistance must be requested at the time of registration (by selecting the relevant box during online registration).
Submitted applications will be reviewed and approved applicants will be notified subsequently.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Applicable to PTS-funded participants only
In accordance with the Staff regulations and rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide the following:
- The PTS travel agent will reserve, issue and forward the flight ticket to the participants for the most direct and economic route;
- Funded participants are not allowed to purchase their own tickets unless, under exceptional circumstances, when authorized to do so and only if this proves to be the most cost efficient for the PTS;
- The PTS will book a hotel and cover the costs of accommodation;
- A Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA), provided upon arrival, sufficient to cover the related expenses during the workshop; and
- Health insurance for the duration of the workshop.
Requirement: Scanned passport copies.
OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION
Visa Requirements
Participants requiring a visa are advised to apply at the relevant Embassy/Consular office upon receipt of the official Note Verbale of acceptance from the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS), in order to allow sufficient time for processing.
Health and Accident Insurance
All participants are strongly encouraged to obtain health and accident insurance coverage for the full duration of the workshop, prior to travel. Participants funded by the PTS will be covered under the Global Medical Insurance scheme, including third-party liability insurance.
