Training Course on NDC Capacity Building for Advanced Webgrape Users

LOCATION
Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria

DATES
28-30 October 2026

LANGUAGE
The working language will be English

OBJECTIVES
The workshop aims to provide participants with a good understanding of CTBTO’s ATM output (the SRS file), as well as a comprehensive understanding of Webgrape’s potential to support both the verification regime and scientific applications in general by using IDC (SRS) data and IMS (sample) data. It will also help to refresh basic skills and explore and refine advanced skills of all (beginner and advanced) Webgrape functionalities available in both the desktop application (complementing the NDC-in-a-Box package) and in its online Webgrape app (Webgrape Internet-Based Services), as well as to promote the exchange of experience and expertise in ATM and Webgrape among the NDCs.

AGENDA

  • Introduction to ATM and its role to provide key support to CTBT’s Verification Regime.
  • Introduction (theory) to ATM’s output data for forward and backward modelling: the source-receptor sensitivity file (SRS file).
  • Introduction (theory + examples) to all Webgrape products: FOR (Field of Regard), PSR (Possible Source Region), MMFOR (Multi-model FOR), MMPSR (Multi-model PSR), MultiPSR, CustomSRS (and forward PLUMEs), CES (Continuously Emitting Sources), and Network Coverage.
  • Introduction to all Webgrape features for product’s data layer functionality.
  • First steps: live demonstrations + follow along (getting SRS data and more).
  • NDCs using Webgrape (presentations by participants).
  • Extensive training:
    - The use cases
    - Beginner tasks (from FOR to PSR)
    - Advanced tasks (from Network Coverage to CES to PSR and multi-model analyses)
  • Participant requests (use case/functionality/other)
  • Q&A
  • Assessment, feedback, conclusion

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

  • NDC technical staff/authorized users (preferably Principal or Regular User).
  • Experts involved in applying and developing radionuclide monitoring, atmospheric transport modelling (ATM) and data fusion methods.
