Guyana ratifies Comprehensive
Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty

Guyana deposited its instrument of ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) with the Secretary-General of the United Nations on 7 March 2001. Guyana is the seventy-fourth State Signatory and the eleventh in the Latin American and Caribbean region to have ratified the Treaty. For the CTBT to enter into force, a further 13 of the 44 nuclear-capable States listed in Annex 2 to the Treaty need to ratify it. The CTBT bans any nuclear weapon test explosion or any other nuclear explosion anywhere in the world.
