New dates for the Conference on
Facilitating the Entry into Force of
the Comprehensive Nuclear-
Test-Ban Treaty

New dates for the Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty have been agreed, so that the Conference can take place in parallel to the rescheduled General Debate of the current 56th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Conference will now open at UN Headquarters in New York on 11 November 2001, one day after the opening of the General Debate, and will last for three days. The Conference, convened under Article XIV of the Treaty, provides States with an opportunity to review progress and to consider measures to accelerate the Treaty ratification process and advance entry into force. Attendance is expected to be at a high level.
